A complete roof refurbishment in Redhill, Surrey, completed by the TCG South Roofing team with an impressive two-day turnaround.
The existing tiled roof was stripped back completely, allowing us to inspect the underlying roof structure and identify any timber that had deteriorated over time.
During the strip-down, we found two rotten verge timbers, which were removed and replaced before the roof was rebuilt.
The existing roof tiles were retained and carefully reinstated, while the ageing components underneath were replaced with a modern roofing system.
Complete Roof Strip & Refurbishment
The existing tiles, battens and old roofing membrane were removed, exposing the roof structure beneath.
This is one of the major advantages of a full roof refurbishment. Rather than repeatedly repairing individual problems from the outside, stripping the roof gives us the opportunity to properly inspect the underlying timbers and deal with defects while everything is accessible.
In this case, two deteriorated verge timbers were discovered and replaced with new timber before work continued.
New Roofing Felt & Battens
Once the necessary timber repairs had been completed, the roof was fitted with a new breathable roofing membrane and new treated timber battens.
The original roof tiles could then be carefully reinstated over the new roofing system.
This approach retains the established appearance and character of the property while renewing the important weatherproofing components beneath the tiles.
New Dry Ridge & Dry Verge Systems
As part of the refurbishment, we also installed new mechanically fixed dry ridge and dry verge systems.
Modern dry-fix systems provide a secure mechanical fixing without relying on traditional mortar bedding, helping create a neat, durable and lower-maintenance finish.
New Leadwork
New leadwork was also installed at the required roof junctions and around vulnerable areas of the roof.
Correctly installed leadwork is an essential part of protecting junctions where roof coverings meet walls, chimneys or adjoining roof sections and helps prevent water penetration into the roof structure.
