Slate Roof Repairs & Replacement – Ash, Surrey
We recently completed a comprehensive slate roof repair and upgrade in Ash, Surrey, addressing multiple areas of failure including slipped tiles, ageing underlay, and worn leadwork around key junctions.
The existing roof had begun to deteriorate, with tiles coming loose and the original felt no longer providing adequate weather protection. This is a common issue on older slate and tiled roofs across the Ash and wider Surrey area, particularly where roofs have been exposed to years of wind, rain, and temperature changes.
Scope of Works Completed:
* Full strip of affected roof areas, removing existing tiles and compromised materials
* Installation of new high-performance roofing felt to provide a modern waterproof barrier
* New treated timber battens fitted to ensure correct spacing, alignment, and long-term durability
* Installation of lead soakers to all abutments, ensuring proper water runoff and protection at junctions
* Renewal of leadwork around the chimney, including flashing and detailing to prevent water ingress
* Careful replacement and reinstallation of tiles, with damaged or worn tiles replaced where required
* Installation of new verges for a clean, secure edge finish
* Ridge line re-bedded and finished in Remix, providing a strong, weather-resistant and long-lasting finish
The Result:
The roof is now fully restored, structurally sound, and protected against the elements. The new felt and batten system ensures a solid base beneath the tiles, while the upgraded leadwork and ridge detailing provide long-term reliability and improved performance.
Visually, the roof now has a clean, uniform appearance, enhancing the overall look of the property while significantly extending the lifespan of the roofing system.
