Home Leaking Ridge Line & New Dry Ridge System – Churt Farnham Surrey
A recent roofing job completed by the TCG South Roofing team in Churt, near Farnham, after the property developed problems with water ingress around the ridge line.
The existing ridge system had deteriorated over time, leaving vulnerable areas along the top of the roof where water could potentially penetrate the roof covering.
Rather than carrying out another short-term mortar repair, we installed a modern mechanically fixed dry ridge system, providing a much more secure and durable solution.
Existing Ridge Removed & Roof Inspected
The existing ridge tiles were carefully lifted to expose the ridge line underneath.
This allowed our team to inspect the condition of the roof beneath the ridge and prepare the area correctly before installing the new system.
Where suitable, the existing ridge tiles could then be retained and incorporated into the new installation, helping preserve the appearance and character of the property.
New Dry Ridge System Installed
A modern dry ridge system was fitted along the ridge line.
Unlike traditional mortar bedding, a dry ridge system mechanically secures the ridge tiles to the roof. This removes the reliance on mortar, which can crack, deteriorate and become loose after years of exposure to changing weather conditions.
The system also provides controlled ventilation beneath the ridge while helping to prevent wind-driven rain from entering the roof.
Each ridge tile is securely fixed into position, creating a neat, strong and long-lasting finish.
Roof De-Mossed
While carrying out the ridge work, the roof was also de-mossed, removing accumulated moss and organic growth from the tiles.
Heavy moss growth can retain moisture on a roof and can also work its way beneath and between tiles. Loose moss can eventually fall into gutters and downpipes, contributing to drainage problems.
Removing it not only improves the appearance of the roof but also makes it considerably easier to inspect the tiles and identify any damaged or vulnerable areas.

Older mortar-bedded ridge tiles can gradually become loose as the mortar deteriorates. Cracking and movement can eventually allow water into the roof and, in more serious cases, leave ridge tiles vulnerable during high winds.
A mechanically fixed dry ridge system provides a modern alternative without relying on exposed mortar to hold the ridge tiles in place.
