Failing Rubber Flat Roof Replaced – Thatcham

The TCG South Roofing team recently completed this flat roof replacement in Thatcham after the existing rubber roofing system had begun to fail.
Once a flat roof covering starts to deteriorate, localised patch repairs can often become a false economy. Water can find its way beneath the membrane and travel across the roof structure, meaning the point where a leak appears internally isn’t necessarily where the roof has actually failed.

For this property, the decision was made to remove the failing system and replace it with a professionally installed three-layer felt roofing system, providing a durable and reliable long-term solution.

Existing Rubber Roof Removed

The old rubber roof covering was stripped back, allowing us to properly inspect the roof beneath rather than simply installing another covering over an already failing system.
As the photographs from the job show, removing the existing membrane exposed the underlying roof surface and allowed the team to check its condition and properly prepare it for the new installation.

Correct preparation is particularly important with flat roofing. The finished system is only as good as the surface and detailing underneath it.

New Three-Layer Felt Roofing System

Once preparation was complete, we installed a new three-layer felt system across the complete flat roof.
A correctly installed multi-layer felt roof creates a tough, waterproof covering designed to cope with the changing British weather.
Particular attention was given to the perimeter of the roof and the junctions where the flat roof meets the main property, as these are some of the most important areas when preventing future water ingress.
The finished roof provides a clean, uniform and weather-resistant surface, completely replacing the deteriorating rubber system.

Flat Roof Replacement in Thatcham

Flat roofing problems are best dealt with before persistent water ingress causes damage to the roof deck, insulation, ceilings or internal finishes.
If an existing rubber, felt or other flat roofing system is beginning to deteriorate, TCG South Roofing can inspect the roof and advise whether a repair is practical or whether replacement represents the better long-term option.
